Charles Breiling
Math
Born and raised in the western suburbs, Mr. Breiling graduated from Penn
State University with a degree
in Science, then went on to Drexel for his Masters.
He proudly served for ten years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve,
attaining the rank of Staff
Sergeant. In addition to the usual infantry skills, the Marines were host to
a wide variety of experiences,
including cross-country skiing, underwater helicopter evacuation, petroleum
firefighting, but to be
honest, Mr. Breiling would rather be in the classroom.
Mr. Breiling has been teaching since 1993 in public and charter schools in
Philadelphia, after surviving a
short stint as a substitute teacher. He's taught Computer Science, Biology,
and Chemistry, but his true
passion is teaching Math, which he's done with students from fourth through
twelfth grade.
In his spare time Mr. Breiling dabbles in various activities on a randomly
rotating schedule. These include
piano, drawing, writing about education reform, and pyrotechnics. With
regards to the last hobby, Mr.
Breiling is a trained pyrotechnician, and has either choreographed or worked
on fireworks displays in
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Vermont, Iowa and Virginia.
As the son and grandson of architects and artists, Mr. Breiling is thrilled
to be teaching here at CHAD.
