David Williams
Math
David comes to teaching through the U.S. Navy and 20+ years in private industry. He served five years as a naval officer where he was a Navigator, 1st Lieutenant, and Legal Officer. He experienced both the excitement of navigating a 414-foot ship up Charleston’s Cooper River during a blinding rainstorm and the serenity of walking on the main deck in the middle of the ocean on a moonless night where it was so dark that you couldn’t see your hand when it was stretched out in front of your face.
After the Navy, David worked as a marine engineer, facility security officer and office manager for Newport News Shipbuilding and George G. Sharp, Inc. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia, an MBA from Drexel University and a teaching certificate in math from Cabrini College.
Married for 17 years to wife Jennifer, they have two boys: Spencer, age 11 and Oliver, age 9. David enjoys camping, travel, science fiction, reading, writing, and watching his kids play sports.
