Edwin Torres
Building Superintendent
Mr. Torres was born in Philadelphia. At the age of 4 his parents moved back to Puerto Rico where he grew up. He returned to Philadelphia when he was 15 and attended Olney
High School. He began to study theology at the Spanish Eastern Bible Institute in Philadelphia and graduated with a Diploma in Christian Education. He is married and has 2 children, Eric (23) and Erica (20). He also has two beautiful grandchildren Julius (5) and Taliah (1).
He comes to us after having worked the Julia De Burgos Bilingual Middle Magnet School and at the Nueva Esperanza Charter High School in North Philadelphia. He has over 14 years of experience as a Non Teaching Assistant in the public schools. He also worked for Northeastern Hospital Temple East as a Patient Relations Coordinator.
He enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing. He is also a musician (percussionist). Mr. Torres is the Senior Commander for the Royal Rangers Boys Program (similar to Boys Scouts) in his local church. He has coordinated 13 Missions Trips to Dominican Republic and Venezuela. The largest group of 34 people just got back from Dominican Republic August 6, 2004. Among other things they distribute food, clothing, toys, medicine, and conduct bible studies. They help to build 5 churches and 1orphanage.
