Starr Young Dixon was born and raised in Philadelphia PA. Starr comes to CHAD with many years experience in the education. She is a proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls and went on to graduate from St. Joseph’s University with a BS in Sociology and a minor in Biology. After brief employment with the State of Pennsylvania, Starr began her teaching career with The School District of Philadelphia as an AP Physics Teacher. Since then she has taught every area of science in grades 6th thru 12th. She has also taught at the college level teaching teachers the methods of teaching science. Starr took an early retirement from the School District.

She has come out of retirement to CHAD, with a great deal of enthusiasm, to teach Environmental Science. Starr received her Master of Ed in Science from Beaver College (now Arcadia University), her Principals Certificate and Science Supervisor’s Certificate from Cheyney University. When asked why she came out of retirement she has no problem letting you know she has a passion for science education and missed the kids!

Starr has numerous interests including her church work, her event planning business and spending time with her family. Starr is married to her childhood sweetheart and is the proud mother of two children.
