Debra Buchan

English

Ms. Buchan, rhymes with “you can,” majored in English at Hofstra University on Long Island, NY. While there she mastered the art of 24 hour transportation into and out of NYC and struggled to find the balance between the social and academic demands of college life. For a few years, Ms. Buchan lived in Atlanta because she wanted a change of scenery and had no snow tires on her car. Upon her return to the more northerly states, Ms. Buchan continued her education at Temple University School of Law, receiving her J.D. before any of CHAD’s current students were born. While working in the legal field, Ms. Buchan pursued motherhood with a passion, raising two daughters, Kara (a recent UArts graduate) and Mackenzie (now a high school junior).

After attending graduate school at Arcadia University for her M.Ed., Ms. Buchan taught English and Drama to 9th through 12th graders in the Philadelphia school system for 4 years. This is her 5th year teaching English at CHAD, and her 2nd year in a row teaching 11th grade.
